To practice as a pharmacy student or intern in Newfoundland and Labrador, you are required to register with the Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board. Registration as a pharmacy student or intern confers upon them the right to perform tasks within the scope of practice of a pharmacist, but only under supervision.

Register as a Pharmacy Student

To apply for registration as a pharmacy student, complete and submit the appropriate application in the Application Portal.
Register as a Pharmacy Intern
Pharmacy graduates and international applicants who wish to practice as a pharmacy intern or complete the practical training program for pharmacists must first apply to register as a pharmacy intern.

To apply for registration as a pharmacy intern, complete and submit the appropriate application in the Application Portal.
Apply for Practical Training
Once registered, pharmacy interns wishing to complete practical training must apply by completing and submitting the appropriate application in the Application Portal.
Please note that you are not permitted to begin the practical training period until you have received confirmation that your application has been approved; credit will not be given for time served prior to the application being approved.
The approval email will also include a manual containing:
- a variety of activities designed to evaluate the applicant’s ability to apply their learned knowledge and skills in a real-world setting; and
- an evaluation form to be completed and submitted by the preceptor at the end of the training period.
PLEASE NOTE: If, for any reason, you are unable to complete the practical training period, or if a change of preceptor is required, please contact us at registration@nlpb.ca as soon as possible to discuss your options.
